Dan Murphy is a jazz pianist based in Chicago. He can be found working with many top local artists including Mark O’Connor, Dan Bruce, Tony DoRosario, Joel Spencer, and the David Rothstein band.

Prior to relocating from the Akron/Cleveland area, Dan was busy leading his own trio and quartet as well as performing regularly with many Northeast Ohio jazz artists including Bobby Selvaggio, Ernie Krivda, and trumpeter Jack Schantz to name a few. Dan has also backed-up several national artists including Ralph Lalama, Slide Hampton, Jiggs Whigham, Steve Hobbs, and John Riley.

Dan holds a Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies from Youngstown State University and a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Akron. He is currently performing and composing in the Chicago area and is a Lecturer in Jazz Piano/Theory at the University of Illinois Chicago.  His debut album is available on Armored Records.
