Dan Murphy is a jazz pianist now based in Chicago and can be found working with many top local artists including Mark O’Connor, Jeannie Tanner, Dan Bruce, Joel Spencer, Nathan Kawaller, and the David Rothstein band. Prior to relocating from the Akron/Cleveland area, Dan was busy leading his own trio and quartet and was constantly performing with many NE Ohio artists including:  vocalists Helen Welch and Barbara Knight, saxophonists Bobby Selvaggio and Ernie Krivda, trumpeter Jack Schantz, and trombonists Paul Ferguson and Chas Baker. Dan has backed-up national artists including Ralph Lalama, Kevin Mahogany, Slide Hampton, Jiggs Whigham, Alan Vizzutti, Paquito D’Rivera, Phil Palombi, Carla Cook, Steve Hobbs, Lance Bryant, and John Riley.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies from Youngstown State University, a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Akron, and has worked as a pianist for Princess Cruises. Dan is currently performing and composing in the Chicago area and is teaching part-time at Harold Washington College.  His debut album will be released soon!
